I got a Lundby house!!

Woo Hoo!! I finally found a vintage Lundby house. I have always waned one.

(Note: the pictures here have mid-century hard plastic furniture instead of the lovely original Lundby pieces that came with the house. Everything needed a good cleaning, but I had some fun re-decorating and taking pictures before I did that. I will do a later post with the real furniture.)

It just goes to show that it pays to be nice and chatty. I bought a little clock from one of the dealers at the St. Lawrence Antique Market one Sunday and as he wrapped it up I mentioned that it was for my dollhouse. He replied that he hadn't put it in his dollhouse because it was too big.

Of course that started the conversation and the following Sunday I arrived at his table to find this wonderful 1969/1970 version of the famous Lundby house complete with original furniture and seven working lights (as I mention above - those pictures are to come once I scrub a few decades of dust off everything.).

I am now the proud owner of this little piece of dollhouse history. It needs a little TLC, but I think it is gorgeous! Enjoy the pictures. The furniture is Marx, Reliable, Renwal, Kleeware, Ideal, etc. and I think it looks great in this house.

  1. Congratulations, that is a very nice Lundby house, love the wallpapers. And the furniture looks very nice in the house. I noticed that your white kitchen table is the same Helmer used when he baked for Christmas :-) Do you know which of the companies you mentioned that made it?

  5. What a wonderful find...I have always loved the soft blues in this vintage Lundby. And the mid-century plastic furniture looks great in it....or just maybe it's the decorator! Can't wait to see it with the original furniture. Flo

  6. I love the furniture very much. I have seen the most pieces, but never a complete furnished house with them. so lovely. I must say I love it more than the vintage lundby-items.
    Congrats!

  7. I am so happy for you. I believe that if you found this then I will find a good older one too when the time is right. I will be nice and chatty. Good things come to good people. You sure got a good thing! What a great house. I just love everything about it. Lundby only made toys for kids. They never knew back then how many adults would be kids again with their toys. What a JOY!

  8. Helene, I am not sure who made the kitchen table, but I think it might be Renwal. I will have a look and see if it is marked. Does anyone else know how made this table?

  9. Thanks everyone! I think this furniture looks fantastic in this house. If I every find an unfurnished Lundby I know I can use it. This is the kind of furniture I had as a kid. I was too old for dollhouses when Lundby started to sell these in North America, Luckily I have become young enough for dollhouses again.

  10. Oese, I agree with you. I think I like this furniture better too. It looks great But I also like the idea of having the original furniture for the house. It cleaned up very nicely, so I will redecorate the house and do a photo shoot soon and post it - in a week or so.

  11. Amy, you are so sweet. Of course you will find an older Lundby for your collection. Just keep wishing and keep looking. The funny thing is I tried to buy several Lundby houses before this one presented itself, but something always went wrong.

Either I was just too late and someone got to the house first, or the house was too far away for me to get to (happens a lot on Craigslist), or the price was too high. Now I know why those houses didn't work out. Because I was supposed to have this one.

I have a little philosophy that I believe in. Eventually one will get everything one asks for if one keeps her eyes open and her Karma good.

I believe that you will be doing a post in your newly acquired Vintage Lunby before too long.
    Hugs,
    Susan
