Mindolton Manor

Here are a couple of pictures of my new dollhouse. I have decided to call it Mindolton Manor. Mindolton is a contraction of Mini Doll Town. The doll family's last name is Mindolton and if you judge by the size of the house they must be the richest dolls in the doll town that is now being established in my dining room.

I haven't decided which dolls are going to make up the Mindolton family, but I have put the mother from Green Shutters on the top balcony (top picture) so you can get an idea of how big this dollhouse is. She is at least 5.5" tall.

I am so in love with this house that I thought about it all weekend while I was up at my sister's cottage in Muskoka. I couldn't wait to get home to see it again.

I will add more pictures as I work on the house and decide what to put in it and how to finish the rooms that aren't finished. For now I will tease you with a picture of the gorgeous dining room. The house came unfurnished, but I had just won this lovely Bespaq dining room on eBay (for a bargain price), and I thought it fit perfectly.

More soon,

Hugs,

Susan

  5. I am so very glad I came across your blog! I had been researching for the last several weeks in regards to this house. I was able to come across the kit completely untouched and left in a closet for the last 20+ years. Got in touch with Walmer and they are being kind enough to get me a copy of the instructions since the kit didn't have them. I am so excited to start on this house, but am more than aware that I'll probably be working on it for years. :) Need to finish at least one or two of the kits I've already got going first...

  6. Hi Kelli. It took me a while, but I finally found a picture of this house online and they said it was a kit called the Bay Mansion. Can you confirm this and tell me what year the kit was made? This is a very satisfying dollhouse because it is so pretty and so big. The rooms are great sizes for attractive room settings. Just last week I redecorated the house with Lynnfield furniture that was made in the US between the 30s and the 60s. I haven't taken pictures yet, but I will be blogging about it as soon as I do. I would be really interested in seeing pictures of your kit.

  7. Indeed, the Walmer Representative I spoke with said it was their Bay Mansion Econo-Kit(as in more for your $) #520. She said they made the kit in the 80's but then discontinued it, and from what I've been able to pinpoint they made it specifically in the early 80's. The guy I'm getting my kit from said it was bought in 1983, and then they never got around to building it. He assured me all pieces were there, just no instructions -- thus why I contacted Walmer. I'll make sure to get pictures of my kit, which I'm quite positive I'll be posting on my blog as soon as it arrives. lol I'll let you know though, or can e-mail pics to you if you'd prefer. :) Thanks again for your blog, because I found this house kit here and one other place on-line. For being one of their "popular" kits, it seems you really can't find too much about it on-line.
