You can build this doll house of plywood - in 1937

It is amazing what one can find when surfing the web.

I hope I am not violating any copyrights by showing you a couple of pages from a 1937 magazine.

I love this house. If anyone actually makes it please post the pictures and send me the link, or email them to me to post.

And, please make me one too.

Rebecca of Rebecca's Collections blogged about this house and the plans a couple of years ago. Visit her post here.

Enjoy!

Susan

  2. Now you can build one of your own. It says that the builder can make it any scale. I would love to see it in a 1:12 or even a 1:1.

  6. There's one in Australia somewhere - I saw it in an exhibition of dolls houses 11 years ago. I scanned it from the book of the exhibition: http://rebeccascollections.blogspot.com/2009/03/casa-manana-plans-sold-on-ebay.html It's the only one I've seen - it would be lovely to have one :-)

  7. I love the drawing of the little girls playing with the house - you can see how the wall of the Australian house got lost!

  8. This is from Popular Science. It is well out of copyright (I give another link below) you can read the issue at
http://preview.tinyurl.com/42jdfxm (shorter URL the original to Google Books was nearly 300 chars)

I happen to sell this for people too lazy to research. It is out of copyright, you can read on that here:

Your blog by the way is amazing and an inspiration. Keep up the great work.

  9. Thanks Jaie! I am happy to hear I am not violating a copyright. Thank you also for your encouraging words about my blog. I love to collect and research for my blog, but I rarely get time to post. It is nice to be told that my readers appreciate it.
    Good luck with your sales.

  10. Thanks. I collect Petite Princess myself http://scaleadventures.blogspot.com/ and don't post as often as I'd like, so I do understand that! I'm also addicted to dollhouse apartments. I'm always on the lookout for them so I scan a lot of blogs and stumbled into your's entirely by accident. You have some great, museum worthy homes. I grew up in an auctioneering family and trust me, I've seen some great old houses and your's are their equals and beyond.

  11. Thanks Jaie. I am pleased to hear that you think my collection is museum worthy. I love my antique houses. In fact, a couple of them came from dollhouse museums that closed.

I have a post on Petite Princess here: http://susanshouses.blogspot.com/2009/04/petite-princess.html.
BTW, Ann Meehan has a lot of Petite Princess for sale including the kitchen and bathroom. I think it is almost a complete set you can reach her at this email antiquedh@comcast.net. If you do contact her please mention that I sent you. Her website is here: http://www.meehanantiqueminiatures.com/

  14. Great! Look forward to seeing you there! By the way, the PP collection you have is great. There's so much more out there too! And affordable. Thank goodness for eBay and Etsy.

I'm more varied than you'd think by looking at the blog but right now I'm concentrating on my PP stuff.
