This Nantucket-style Cottage is modelled after the original Tynietoy 1920's Captain's house. This is one of 4 known models of the rare cottage made by Mel Davey who was a craftsman for the Tynietoy firm in Providence R.I.

The front panel removes to reveal 4 spacious rooms with full staircase in an arched entrance hallway. A deep sloped roof and widow's walk complete the look of this vintage sea captains house. Signed by the artist (pen and incised mark) and dated (1987-1988) on underside. |
Plans for this house were printed in the November, 1920 issue of Ladies Home Journal |
I have filled the house with Tynietoy furniture and carpets. |
The kitchen has the hard-to-find Windsor chairs around the Tynietoy Hutch Table |
At the back of the kitchen is the breakfast nook table and benches, a sewing table and an Arcade cast iron Alaska ice box. The Tynietoy kitchen dresser is on one side of the room. The rug is also from the Tynietoy company. |
The palour has a lovely Ladder-back settee and matching chairs with a matching mirror over the built-in mantle. The Spanish style cabinet and table are rare Tynietoy treasures. |
A closer look at the parlour

The larger bedroom has a spool bed and other Tynietoy furniture including a secretary and chest of draws |
The nursery has a yellow sleigh bed and blue crib.
